How to Remove Acrylic Nails at Home
Step 1: Trim Down the Acrylic Nails
Before you begin removing the acrylic nails, you'll need to trim them down as much as possible with nail clippers. This will make the removal process easier and less likely to damage your natural nails.
Step 2: Soak Your Nails in Acetone
Pour 100% pure acetone into a small bowl and soak your nails in it for 10-15 minutes. The acetone will slowly dissolve the acrylic nails, making them easier to remove.
Step 3: Push Back the Acrylic
Once the acrylic nails have soaked for a while, use an orangewood stick or cuticle pusher to gently push back the acrylic from your natural nails. Be careful not to push too hard, as you could damage your natural nails.
Step 4: File Down the Remaining Acrylic
Once you've pushed back as much of the acrylic as possible, use a fine-grit nail file to file down any remaining acrylic. Be sure to file in the same direction as your nail growth to avoid damaging your natural nails.
Step 5: Buff Your Nails
Once you've removed all of the acrylic, buff your nails with a soft nail buffer to smooth out any rough edges and restore the natural shine to your nails.
